Simplot's Cogen Project Makes it to the Finals of the Banksia Environmental Awards

Simplot's cogeneration project commissioned late 2012 has been listed as a finalist in the 2013 Banksia Environmental Awards

The project to install a 7.9MW cogeneration plant at Simplot's Ulverstone site to secure Simplot from coal prices and increasing electricity prices also provided a significant environmental impact; reducing scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions by approximately 39,000 tonnes per annum. The project also delivered community benefits by underpinning a natural gas supply to the township of Ulverstone which otherwise may never have eventuated.

These ongoing community and environmental benefits have seen Simplot listed as a finalist in the 2013 Banksia Environmental Awards.

The winner of the 2013 Banksia Environmental Award is due to be announced on Wednesday the 9th of October.
